"Well, I guess it started here," he said, "I separated from Jaina, my date. I don't know what he started with, but she was feeling uncomfortable and harassed. Roman Sionis tried to help her but got hit. I hit him, and I don't know where he is now," Bruce said.

"Why was Jaina feeling uncomfortable and harassed?" Jeff asked. "Tell me specifically to the best of your knowledge how this person was bothering her. And can you give me a name or a physical description of said person?" Jeff was already at work, writing everything Bruce said down.

"I'll get video of it off the security cameras, for a description," he told Jeff, "As for why...well, it sounded like he's been stalking her or something."

That was assuming the videos hadn't been tampered with but he'd let it go for now. He'd press him for a description after the other questions. "Now why do you say that? What did Jaina tell you or what did you notice to make you think he was stalking her? Tell me everything." His words were a combination of firm and kind. He wanted to let Bruce know he was serious that this matter was serious and no trivial thing; but, at the same time he didn't want to appear intimidating. Bruce was helping and he wanted to put him at ease as much as the situation allowed.

The details themselves weren't important. Not when there wasn't a case. "So he knew things he shouldn't have. Things she wouldn't tell strangers," he repeated, looking to Bruce for confirmation. "Did she see him following her? Did you? Besides the information, did he directly threaten her? Did he ask her anything strange? Did he send her any letters? Did he call her phone, leave any voice messages?"

"He sent her a dress," he said, figuring there was no harm in saying that, "Sounds like he's been watching her, made it himself, fit her perfectly."

"A dress that fit her perfectly?" he repeated with concern. That was definitely disturbing and disconcerting and he couldn't imagine why Bruce hadn't mentioned something so important. This was why it was crucial to pick potential witnesses' brains and ask probing questions. They left too much out on their own.
"Was there any kind of message with it or inside of it?" Sometimes when stalkers left gifts they would leave telling messages. It could give someone insight to their motive or their thought process.

"Nothing particularly pertaining," he said, "Something like 'To my White Rabbit', whatever that means." Of course, Bruce knew more or less what it meant, but that wasn't something he'd get into, not with her vigilante side.

Again Bruce left out something potentially important. Just because they didn't know what the message meant now didn't mean it wouldn't make sense later. You couldn't finish the puzzle if you didn't have all the pieces.
"Please tell me everything no matter how inconsequential it seems. It might be important later. At the very least 'my' isn't a good sign. It suggests he's very possessive." He doubted he would have it but it was worth a try. "Do you have this message? We might be able to use the writing to identify him if he's been arrested at some point before."

"Can you talk to Jaina and see if she'd be willing to give it to me to examine?" he asked. He didn't ask if he could question Jaina. Bruce seemed to be very protective of her and hopefully Bruce would give him everything he needed to get started.
"Now this person, when he came to the ball and approached Jaina do you know what he said to her? Did he mention a white rabbit? Did he ask her to go anywhere with him?" Sometimes stalkers would try to invite their victims back to their home. If he named a location that would at least give Jeff a place to begin looking.

"If you could ask her that would be greatly appreciated." Second hand information was better than none. He couldn't believe Bruce had wanted to wait to talk about this. A stalker although not the worst thing in Gotham city still gave people good reason to worry. For all they knew the guy could be a psychotic murderer. Stalkers had been known to kill when their affections weren't returned.
"Now just in case the cameras have been tampered with please give me a brief description of what this person looked like. And did you ever catch his name?"

"He had a suit on, black hair, six feet tall or so. His suit wasn't really a normal suit, though. It was...well, unique, I guess," he said.
