Overview: Zatanna is an interesting character. She’s sarcastic and snarky, and usually has some sort of witty response or remark. She likes to practice her skills, and will do stupid things like provoke Ted Grant into attacking her to practice her acrobatics, perform random tricks, pickpocket people, etc. She usually practices her escaping skills the most often, but she will do just about everything in her power to prove that she’s not into bondage (even if she’s not quite sure she really isn’t). It’s a stigma she’d rather avoid.
She’s completely open about her sexuality. She’s not afraid to hit on other girls as well as guys, and will punch anyone who tries to exploit this without hesitation. She’s also not at all afraid to show off her body, and in fact likes it when people stare at her. This also has the side effect of rendering names like “Tits McGee” utterly useless, or at worst, received as compliments.

History
Zatanna is the daughter of the incredibly famous stage magician John Zatara, and he taught her his skills as he raised her. She learned well, and was almost as good as her father by the time she was 12. He also began training her in escaping at that point, since she’d mastered the basics of his trade. At this time, she also began noticing her bisexuality. Her father, when he learned of it, taught her to never be ashamed of herself. This helped a bunch, not only with her sexuality, but also with her body image. She blossomed into a stunningly beautiful woman, and adapted her on-stage outfit to emphasize this.
She graduated from Gotham U with a degree in engineering, and joined her father in the stage magic business. To help keep in shape; she began practicing martial arts at a local gym, run by one Ted Grant. As she trained there, she got to talking with Ted, and through a complicated series of events, befriended the man. Then, her father died, shot by a mugger even after her father had complied with all of his demands. Realizing how cliché it was but not caring, she decided to fight crime.
She began using her tricks and illusions to distract criminals, both to allow her to take them down and to allow their victims to escape. She also inherited the family mansion, and found her father’s massive collection of books on the occult. She read up, becoming rather learned on the subject, while both continuing the stage magic and the crime-fighting. Her actions soon came to the attention of Ted, and he offered her membership in the JSA. She joined pretty much immediately.
