Jeff ran over grabbed a glass of wine and raised it to Bruce. "To Gotham city and her defenders!" he cheered. He looked to Jen expectantly who eventually retrieved and raised a glass of her own. "To Gotham city and her defenders," she echoed if somewhat half heartedly.
Jeff took a hearty sip. "Good wine!"

He took a sip and nodded, "Well, billionaire. Only the best," he said.

"Oh money doesn't necessarily make it the best! There is some really expensive horrible wine!" Jeff insisted cheerfully. "Same rule with morals too! Money doesn't make you the best. You'd think that the really wealthy would relax and look out for others because what do they have to fear? But you have a lot of greedy rich people who always want more and will bend the rules to get it. Or you have the kind who are just terrified of losing what they have and will do whatever they can to keep it." His smile widened. "But then there are rich guys like you who still have morals and still believe in Gotham. Money itself doesn't say anything. It's how you use it!"
"You could use it better," Jen pointed out.
Jeff merrily shook his head. "I use it to help with my cases. There is no better use!"

"I completely agree," Bruce said, "But my wine is anything but bad," he smiled.

Jeff returned the smile. "No, it seems you have good taste in everything," he said agreeably, taking another sip. "Gotham's pretty lucky to have a billionaire that cares."
"Because you know so much about Bruce?" Jen prompted.
"I've read up on the cases. Wayne Industries does a stellar job at expunging their corrupted. They don't try to protect them like most companies."

"My family worked too hard to build our company. I'm not about to let the corrupt have their way with it," he said.

"Let me know if you need any help in that department. I'll give them prosecution hell!" he cheered.

"I'll be sure to," Bruce smiled.

"Thanks!" he said, beaming. He loved his work. He took pride in bringing sickening people to justice. He hoped that Mr. Wayne could rely on him to help protect Gotham and restore the people's faith in the legal system. "Now please tell me as I haven't found a single person who actually knows! Just what is this ball raising money for?"

"Fundraising," he said, "When it's all over, I split the money made and distribute it to various fundraisers and charities within Gotham," he told Jeff.

"That's great! Normally I'd worry about the money getting to its intended location but since this is your fundraiser I'm sure it will find its proper home. I don't have much but I'll give what I can." Most people didn't take him seriously when he said that but he did a lot of pro bono work and most of his money was poured into his intel network so he could bring cases against former untouchables.

He held his hand up, "No, keep it. You can keep fighting your fight; that's what you can do for me."

Jeff smiled. "It will get where it needs to go," he promised.
Jen chuckled. "Debatable."
Jeff turned towards Jen. "I take it you'll at least donate something." She didn't have his money problems. He wasn't sure what government work she was doing but she was never strapped for cash.
Jenn nodded. "It would be rude not too." And her tastes weren't expensive. She didn't really have need for all the money she got from her work. If it made Jeff feel better she'd donate. "I'll cover for your share too," she promised.
"Alright but only if you don't buy me a birthday present." He didn't want to take advantage of Jen's money. He loved her and was dating her, not her funds.

"Well then, I'll let you two work that one out," Bruce said.

Jen sighed. "Hopeless idealists are so hard to shop for anyway. They have this annoying tendency to not care for materialistic goods."
Jeff shrugged. "Rather have the money go somewhere important. Besides, you're not easy to shop for yourself. All you ever ask for is notebooks."
Jen turned back to Bruce. "We must have it easy, though. What in the world would someone give the billionaire who has everything?"
