Overview: William legitimately believes himself to be the reincarnation of Pharaoh Tutankhamen of Egypt, and when he mummifies people, he believes he is helping them reach Duat, the old Egyptian afterlife. He does have a control complex, though, and needs to feel like he’s dominating people. He gets mad real easily if someone disrespects his authority, and will punish them. Despite this, though, he doesn’t like fighting himself. He prefers to have his concubines fight for him.
Other Equipment:
- His things, including practically miles of linen bandages, knockout drugs, audio-visual equipment, etc.
- Steel recreations of the crook and flail.
History
William was born to normal parents and lived a normal life. He was interested in Egyptian myth and history from a young age, and studied it almost obsessively as he grew older. In the 6th grade, he mummified a frog he caught in a creek, and found the process to be kind of fun. His parents took him to a psychologist, and he was diagnosed Ritalin, but he refused to take it. He flushed the pills down the toilet to make it look like he was.
He was bullied consistently as a child, and this didn’t help his deepening mental issues. He eventually lashed out, kidnapping one of his tormentors and his girlfriend. He mummified them both alive, and buried them by the side of the road near the school. He continued this throughout the remainder of his schooling, racking up 10 dead by the time he graduated with a degree in Archaeology.
He pored over his work, becoming one of the foremost experts in his field. He became especially famous for his dedication, even learning tahtib, an ancient Egyptian martial art. He continued to take lives, however, until one day, he took a young woman, a student who had attended one of his lectures. He found himself fascinated with her, so he kept her. He looked into some neuroscience textbooks, and managed to brainwash the young woman so she served him, as a concubine. He found himself fascinated by this power he held over this young woman. He renamed her Cleopatra, and left her at his home while he went on another dig.
At this dig, he found an ancient tablet, inscribed in Demotic. It mentioned how a great king will emerge from the gates of Duat to reclaim his position in the world. This resonated on a deep, instinctual level with William, and he became convinced he was this old king born anew, the new body of Tutankhamen. When he got home, he purchased a warehouse under a false name, and over the course of 10 years, built a small pyramid inside. He sold his house and began to live in this pyramid, until the point where he refused to come out. He was considered to be dead, and he liked it that way. He was no longer William McElroy; he was Pharaoh Tutankhamen, born anew.
He continued his practice, taking several more lives via mummification and making several other women into concubines, ruling over them.
