After having helped Oliver save his sister, she had just kind of started following him and asking him for training. She had done her part to help, and was seeing herself as an ally of his. She was even coming into his base now and learning from him, and was allowed in, instead of breaking in like the first time.
All she could do earlier was shoot, now she was learning to fight, learning to move over rooftops and everything else. She felt good about this, like she was going to become Oliver's partner properly, not just a pretender, like she had been. Not just an imitator.

Carrie was getting better. Better than Oliver had expected, at the very least. He thought she'd never get even close to his skill level, but she was. He didn't know whether to be scared or proud.

"So," she said, panting, "How am I doing?"

"A lot better." Ollie said. "Definitely a lot better."

"Good enough to be fighting alongside you?" she asked.

"No matter which way I answer, I get the feeling it'll happen anyway, so sure."

"I really do want your actual opinion," she said, "Am I good enough, or am I a liability?"

"Well, you're not a liability. Not anymore." Ollie said. "I'd say you're just about good enough. Almost."

"I'm glad to hear that," she smiled.
There was a pounding sound, and then footfalls as someone descended.

Ollie grabbed his bow on a reflex, drawing an arrow and aiming it at the stairs. "Who is it?"

"So, do you have a new little girlfriend, then?" Helena called to him, holding her hands up as she descended.

"Been a while since you popped in, Helena." Ollie said. "And no, she's not my girlfriend. Call her my accomplice by force."

"Who is she?" Carrie asked.
"Well, aren't you wondering how things went?" Helena questioned Oliver, "With my father? His people?"

"Someone I tried to help, in the past. I presume they're all dead." Oliver replied, keeping his bow trained on Helena.

"Most," she said, "My father is among the dead, though. That's what matters."
