Overview:
Terry is someone who claims to solely be looking out for himself. He cares about others, but doesn’t want to let it show. If it does show, he’ll often tell people not to tell anyone about what he did/they saw. When he sees something he wants he does his best to get it, and never gives up. He’s tenacious and driven.
Terry’s problem is that he doesn’t apply himself, but he is intelligent. He does get good grades, but doesn’t talk about that. He’s found ways of applying himself and has the marks to prove that, he just doesn’t do much with it, and would rather not appear as someone who might be viewed as geeky or nerdy due to intelligence.
He likes to think that he’s smooth and good with the women, but isn’t really. He has a somewhat short temper with certain types of people, and is used to fights. He’s pretty good at fighting, and has learned parkour, having that and honed agility and speed to get him through.
He jokingly threw out the idea of the Teen Titans, and when he found out that it was happening he managed to “find” equipment and make himself a vigilante costume so he could play at some things. He has no real qualms about stealing at times, but wouldn’t admit to it. As Red X, he’s skilled with knives and boomerangs, and knows how to repair his costume, whether it be cloth or the steel of his weapons.
He has a crush on Stephanie Brown, though he doesn’t do much with it until he’s suited up as Red X, feeling more comfortable behind a mask.
Other Equipment:
- As Red X he wields the following: multiple shuriken, multiple knives (combat and throwing), short blades built into his gauntlets. He also employs a putty-type material that hardens fast and allows him to hold things down, along with a fiber rope for grappling or restricting.
- His uniform is something like this, built out of what is possibly military-grade armor, similar to Batman’s (from Stephanie’s father), along with a belt to carry his blades, extra padding on the legs for more storage, and padding on the arms to hold the extending blades. No cape.
History
Terry was born to Mary and Warren McGinnis. He has a brother, Matt, younger than him by ten years. Right after Matt was born their parents split up, and they live with their mother.
During his early schooling, Terry always had some problems with getting into fights. He grew to learn how to fight from a young age through trial and error, and often picking fights with kids bigger than him. He came to resent his father to an extent for not being there for them after losing one too many fights.
He started to put more effort into his studies to make his mother less worried about him. He became smarter when he applied himself, and she was proud of him. He still got into fights, but he started to win more, using agility and parkour (self-taught) to get around in the fights.
After graduating he went to Gotham University to start college, although he isn’t sure what he’s going for. It was there that he made some friends, including Stephanie Brown, whom he developed a crush on. When more vigilantes started to come around, he made a joke about a group of teenage vigilantes doing something about it, accidentally “birthing” the idea of the Teen Titans.
When he learned that his friends were out there as vigilantes, especially Stephanie, he managed to make himself a uniform, following them and raiding the place they were getting gear from, a warehouse of Stephanie’s father. He put together his identity as Red X, and watches his friends, occasionally getting involved with them, and sometimes even against them, since his identity is a secret.
