Alice was rarely conscious of how odd she appeared to others. She knew the way she thought well and wasn't good at imposing those thoughts onto others, or in turn interpreting their thoughts. When she did realize people found her strange she could never figure out why. She continued her songs. Her songs likely appeared nonsensical and somewhat gruesome to Mr. Constantine.

"Done over here." John finally said, putting up his last piece of card. "How's it looking on your end?"

"Done," Alice chirped a beat or two later. "Now what?"

"Now, I need you to call the doll again." John lifted his gun. "In the same way you did last time. Can you do that?"

Alice quickly nodded. "Elle," Alice chirped. "Elle, don't you want to play? You asked me before to play with you, right?" she asked cheerfully. She tried to even keep her tone the same as it was before. She briefly wondered if she should try another handstand when she heard a creaking noise. Alice spun around, trying to determine where the noise had come from. "Elle, come out," she coaxed. "Let's play!"

There you are. John thought, backing into the shadows and letting Alice do her work.

Alice gestured to Mr. Constantine. "It's a friend, Elle," she said in a singsong voice. "There's no reason to be scared. He's not going to hurt you! Come out and play!" There was a pause and then more creaking. Alice wasn't sure if she was lying or not. Then again she wasn't sure how dangerous the doll was. She'd threatened to kill her if that was her but Alice for the most part had been unharmed, just scared.
Finally what looked to be a raggedy ann doll made it's way into plain sight. Alice sighed. She wasn't smiling anymore. She looked to be glowering. Alice looked back to Mr. Constantine uncertainly, wondering if she was supposed to approach Elle.

John decided to make his move. He laid the gun down and slowly stepped towards the doll, kneeling down and gazing at it. "What's your name?" he asked.

The doll didn't move but continued to glower at Alice and Mr. Constantine. There was a screaming noise that seemed to come from the doll's direction. The word Elle angrily echoed throughout the basement. "Elle's a very nice name," Alice said sweetly. She turned to Mr. Constantine smiling. "Don't you think so too?"

"Maybe, but if the doll's being possessed, the thing that possesses it will have another name." John produced a capsule of holy water. "So, I'll ask again. What's your name?"

There were no words this time, just a louder more vengeful scream. The noise was so overwhelming Alice felt forced to cover her ears. She looked to Mr. Constantine, hoping he could do something to drown out the sound or otherwise stop it. Alice had no idea what to do. She was out of her depths.

"Have it your way, Elle." John opened the capsule and poured holy water in a circle around the doll. He stood up and began to read a few verses from the Jewish bible, and praying to all the gods at once that it would work.

Alice tilted her head curious at Mr. Constantine. "You know Hebrew?" she asked, surprised. Few did. Maybe that was just in France, though. But no, not many people in Gotham seemed to know it either. She wasn't sure if she should interrupt or not but his pronunciation was a bit off in several places. A shriek enveloped the basement and the doll took a step forward. It looked like Elle was trying to break out of the circle but was having trouble.

John had something of a loose grasp on Hebrew. He'd picked up what he knew from a course on the internet. He backed off a little to reach for his gun, still speaking Hebrew.

"You're not saying it right," Alice said delicately. She really didn't want to interrupt him but maybe it was important and he was making mistakes. If he could show Alice what needed to be read she'd be able to do it better. The doll looked shaky and unsteady but one foot was outside of the circle. It was frowning fiercely.
